Professor of Economics Randall K. Filer visits AU

Professor of Economics Randall K. Filer met with sophomore students of the Accounting and Finance Department of AKFA University and faculty members of AKFA Business School.

Randall K. Filer is a former professor of the City University of New York. He is also a Senior Scholar and Visiting Professor of Economics at CERGE-EI, a joint workplace of Charles University and the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Professor Filer served as President of the CERGE-EI Foundation, the largest supporter of economics education in the post-communist transition economies from 1999 until 2021. He currently directs the CERGE-EI Foundation Teaching Fellows and Distance Learning Programs, which during the Fall 2021/Spring 2022 academic year will provide economics education to more than 25,000 college students at 55 universities in 20 post-communist countries.

Professor Filer is also the President of the Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting economic literacy among the public in post-communist countries. During the meeting with the students, Professor Randall K. Filer answered to questions of students related to economics, the latest developments in the world, career development, etc.

A separate meeting was held with the dean and faculty members of AKFA Business School. During the meeting, the sides discussed possible cooperation areas and exchanged views on the development of economics.

Randall K. Filer shared copies of the book Common Sense Economics in English, Russian and Uzbek languages with the students and faculty members of the AKFA University.
