Deputy Minister of Finance visits AU to talk about capital market development

Deputy Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Odilbek Isakov paid a visit to AU to meet with the students and held a talk on the topic “Capital market development is a key driver of economic goods”. Mr. Isakov met with the Dean and professors of AU Business School.

Dean of AU Business School Dr. Odiljon Abdurazzakov informed the guest about AU and its programs. Later, Deputy Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Mr. Isakov met with the students of AU Business School and talked about his career path, including his work experience in HSBC, which is one of the largest banks in the world. He also talked about his experience at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan and his accomplishments to develop the capital market in Uzbekistan. Mr. Isakov emphasized the importance of changing people’s attitudes towards securities (stocks and bonds) in order to develop the capital market. “We need to increase financial awareness of the people” he added. In his speech, he brought examples from Poland, Turkey and Romania to describe the importance of developing capital markets for the national economy.

After the talk, Deputy Finance Minister and representatives of the HR Department of the Ministry of Finance encouraged the students of AU Business School to build their careers at the Ministry of Finance. HR Department representatives provided information about paid internships at the Ministry of Finance.
