The AU School of Arts and Humanities is planning to launch undergraduate programs in STEM education in the 2023-2024 academic year.
New undergraduate programs are launched to develop and promote science education in secondary schools of Uzbekistan.
"We must raise awareness of the importance of science education among youth and provide our schools with strong science teachers, who can instill a love for science in our schoolchildren,” commented Munisa Muhtarova, Dean of School of Arts and Humanities.
AU plans to launch undergraduate programs in such areas as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, etc.
Within the work on the launch of new programs, representatives of AU are visiting the secondary schools to explore and identify the need for science education.
In this regard, the AU faculty members paid a visit to a specialized school named after Mirzo Ulug'bek on 16 November. Two enthusiastic teachers of AU - Ms. Asmik Kostyunina and Ms. Komila Narkulova conducted demo lessons on biology and chemistry.
During the visit, they performed science experiments with the 7th and 8th-grade students, encouraging them to become competent and engaged in science subjects relevant to their everyday lives.
The schoolchildren enjoyed the lessons and were delighted to take part in scientific experiments.
